Our Purpose and God's New Society
This course is designed to help students find a clear sense of meaning and purpose in their lives by partnering with God in His comprehensive plan for human flourishing. The course describes the worldwide New Society that God planned to establish through Adam and Eve. That New Society would be accomplished by following what is often referred to as the Cultural Mandate outlined in Genesis 1:28. The divine plan is interrupted by sin, but it is subsequently reaffirmed in spite of the evil that now permeates civilization. The course follows God’s attempts to create His New Society from the time of Israel to our own day and the establishment of the Seventh-day Adventist church. Over and over again the Godhead has tried to restore not only individuals but all the aspects of society that have been co-opted by the Devil. This course concludes with a reflection on our place in the story of God's kingdom and how we can advance human flourishing in anticipation of Christ’s Second Coming.
