Biblical Foundations of Vocation and Calling
This course offers an exploration of biblical foundations around vocation and calling. Students will be equipped with a theological framework for understanding the purpose and meaning behind working in the world today. Topics include God’s original design for work, discerning God's call, ministering full-time through our work, overcoming the sacred/secular dichotomy, and recognizing both the intrinsic and instrumental value in all work. Through this course students will gain greater clarity on their own vocational calling as they develop a theology of work that informs their lives, relationships, and overall missional presence in the world. This course challenges us to think biblically about our responsibility to serve others within our vocations so that all of life can be done for the glory of God and the good of our neighbors.
